Albemarle Housing Improvement Plan (AHIP) of Charlottesville, Virginia has selected brwarchitects to design an affordable and sustainable housing complex. To create affordable rental opportunities for low-income individuals and families, AHIP began planning for Treesdale Park in 2000 when it had the opportunity to purchase a parcel of land in Albemarle County, just north of the Charlottesville city line, in what is called Charlottesville's "urban ring". The site now comprises 6.6 acres of land. The Treesdale Park project will comprise new construction of approximately 90 rental apartment units of mixed-income housing on property currently owned by AHIP. AHIP will finance a significant portion of these units through the federal Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program, which serves families at or below 60 percent of the Area Median Income. The site plan proposes three separate buildings of 30 units each, with a mix of one-, two-, and three- bedroom units with individual balconies / outdoor space for each unit. |
