Broadus Memorial Baptist Church Stoney Point Road Charlottesville, Virginia Broadus Memorial Baptist Church built the first stage of a Master Plan that provides sanctuary space for 350, classrooms, and other support facilities. The intention is to use the fellowship hall as the sanctuary until the permanent structure is built. This requires the fellowship hall to possess a 'sacred' quality normally reserved for the main sanctuary. A brick loggia creates a base for the main fellowship hall with an exterior terrace. The main narthex provides a formal sequence of entry to the current sanctuary. Upon leaving the service the narthex provides panoramic views of the community the congregation is called to serve. The architecture reinforces the mission of the Church. The main sanctuary/fellowship hall centers its view on an ancient tree in the forest beyond the building.
